focal length of convex lens is 20cm. An object is placed some distance from the pole . the image is formed at 30cm. from the pole, then find the object distance and mention the characters of the image​

GIVEN

image distance= v = 30 cm

focal lenth =  f = 20 cm ( because converging lens)

object distance = u = ?

by using the lens formula i.e.

1/V - 1/U = 1/f

⇒1/U=  1/V -1/f

⇒1/U = 1/30 -1/20

⇒1/U = -1/60

U = -60 cm

Now magnification,  m=\frac{V}{U} =\frac{30}{-60}= -\frac{1}{2}

Therefore, the characteristics of the image formed are:-

  • Real
  • Inverted
  • smaller than the object (diminished)
  • image is formed between F2 and 2F2
