Folk/Oral sources are a boon to historians. They considered the history of ordinary people equally important as those of important personalities though they faced the problem of lack of any documentary evidence. They made attempts to stir the memories of common folks to unearth details about various incidents and events. They are also trying to write history based on the study of folk songs, artefacts, etc. and also based on social traditions and behavior. Many such oral narratives were emotional, humane and creative enough to be considered a boon to historians.
