The hydrogen and oxygen gas is formed.
Hydrogen ions are attracted to cathode while oxygen ions are attracted at anode.
Hydrogen produced in electrolysis of water is twice the amount of oxygen production.
It was invented by Nicholson and Carlisle in 1800.
