(b) Group 17 elements are called halogens because halogen is a Greek word which means 'salt producing'. Halogens include fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine and astatine. They all are non-metals. They react with metals to form compounds called salts.

(c) The alkaline earth metals are six chemical elements in group 2 of the periodic table. They are beryllium (Be), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba), and radium (Ra).

(f) Helium is the atom having the smallest size.

This is why atomic radius decrease from left

to right in each row of the periodic table whereas the atomic number and atomic

weight go up.

(g) francium is the largest element which have

largest atomic size.

(h) Helium, Neon, Radon and Argon have zero valency because they have their outer shell completely filled and are chemically inert gas.
