Now, the formula used for calculating the Arithmetic mean by step deviation method is given by,

Mean, X = A + [{∑(f*d)}/N] * i …… (i)

Where,

A = Assumed Mean = 50

N = Sum of frequencies = ∑f = 100

∑(f *d) = 10

i = class size = 20

Now, substituting the values in the formula (i), we get

Mean, X = 50 + [10/100] * 20 = 50 + 2 = 52
