Food rich in carbohydrates, fats and proteins are the energy giving foods because the calorific value of carbohydrate, protein and fat are high when comparied to vitamins, minerals and roughage.
They are the main or the chief sources of energy in humans. These are oxidized and transformed directly to form ATP molecules, the chemical energy form used by cells for their various functions and activities.
So, because of that factor the energy givers are carbohydrates (4.1 gross calorific value kilocalorie per gram), proteins (5.65 gross calorific value kilocalorie per gram) and eventually highest energy giver, fats (9.45 gross calorific value kilocalorie per gram).
