while we are eating, the food enters into pharynx where there are two paths one food pipe other wind pipe. there is a flap like valve known as epiglottis, which acts as a door to protect the food to pass on the wrong way. if we talk while eating the epiglottis cannot stop the food to pass in the wind pipe which results to choaking

THE WIND PIPE IS A PIPE LIKE PASSAGE WAY TO PROVIDE FREE FLOW OR EXCHANGE OF GASES .THERE IS A OBSTRUCTION OF CARTILAGE HELPING THE WIND PIPE TO OPEN AND CLOSE.
OUR THROAT IS COMPOSED OF MAINLY TWO PIPES .NAMELY THE WINDPIPE AND THE FOOD PIPE. THE FOOD IS ONLY MEANT TO ENTER THE FOOD PIPE , BUT AT TIMES ESPECIALLY WHEN WE TALK DURING EATING OUR WINDPIPE ALSO GETS OPEN AND THE FOOD ENTERS THE WIND PIPE CAUSING IRRITATION.
IF THE FOOD PIECE IS MUCH BIGGER THAN THE WIND PIPE THEN IT ALSO CAUSES AN OBSTRUCTION IN THE CLOSING WAY OF WIND PIPE .
