If the medium surrounding of the cell has higher water concentration and the outer solution is very dilute the cell will gain water through osmosis. This is known as hypotonic solution.
If the cell medium has low water concentration than the outside medium, cell will lose water by osmosis. It is known as hypertonic solution.

HEYA!!☺

IF THE MOVEMENT OF WATER MOLECULES IS INSIDE THE CELL ,THEN ENDOSMOSIS TAKES PLACE AND THE CELL SWELLS UP SO IT MEANS OUTER SOLUTION IS LESS SOLUTE CONCENTRATED BUT MORE WATER CONCENTRATED. AND THE CELL IS LESS WATER CONCENTRATED.

IF THE MOVEMENT OF WATER MOLECULES IS OUTSIDE THE CELL , THEN EXOSMOSIS TAKES PLACE AND THE CELL SHRINKS, SO IT MEAMS PUTER SOLUTION IS MORE SOLUTE CONCENTRATED BUT LESS WATER CONCENTRATED .AND CELL IS MORE WATER CONCENTRATED.
