Given :- For a distribution, the sum of lower and upper quartiles is 50 and their difference is 10.

To Find :- Find the coefficient of Q.D. ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • Lower quartiles = Q1
  • Upper quartiles = Q3
  • Coefficient of quartile deviation = Difference between upper quartile and lower quartile / sum of upper quartile and lower quartile = (Q3 - Q1)/(Q3 + Q1) .

given that,

→ Q3 + Q1 = 50

→ Q3 - Q1 = 10 .

then,

→ coefficient of Q.D = (Q3 - Q1)/(Q3 + Q1)

→ coefficient of Q.D = 10 / 50

→ coefficient of Q.D = 1/5

→ coefficient of Q.D = 0.2 (Ans.)
