Given :

A body is freely falling .

To Find :

The vertical velocity at fifth second .

Solution :

We know , for a freely falling body .

Initial velocity , u = 0\ m/s and acceleration is a=g=9.8\ m/s^2 .

So , velocity at t = 5 s is given by equation of motion :

v=u+gt\\v=0+9.8\times 5\\v=49\ m/s

Therefore ,  the vertical velocity at fifth second is 49 m/s .
