Answer:

The resistance of X and 6 ohm is parallel so we will get the equivalent resistance to be 6X/(6+X) so the combination of the Resistance will be equal to 4 ohm.

4 = 2 + 6X/(6+X).

Which on solving we will get the value of the 12+2X = 6X from which the value of X will be equal to 3 ohm.

Hence, for maximum power to be generated we need the resistance X to be 3 ohm.
