Given :
Linear equation or equation of straight line i.e. ax+by+c=0
To Find :
For the straight line to pass from origin which has to be zero out of
a ,b ,c should be necessarily zero .
Solution :
•Given equation of straight line is
ax+by+c=0
clearly , it is genral form of straight line
• First, we will transform it into slope intercept form
ax+by+c=0
by = -ax - c
y = (-a/b)x + (-c/b)
•Now , it is of the form y = mx + k
where m is slope of line
& k is length of Y intercept
•By comparing we get ,
k = -c/b
or length of Y intercept is -c/b
•For the given line to pass from origin the length of intercept should be zero
=> -c/b = 0
=> c = 0
•Hence , for the line ax+by+c=0 to pass from origin c must be zero
