Answer:

2.333m/sec

Explanation:

sum of the speeds = 2+4+1 =7

no of observation =3

for the average speed divide sum by observation=

7/3 =2.333

therefore the answer to this questions is 2.333m/sec

Case-1;

Speed=2m/sec

Distance=720m=d1

Time=d/s

=720/2=360sec =t1

Case;

Speed=4m/sec

Time =5min=5*60=300sec=t2

Distance =s×t

=4*300=1200m =d2

Cases;

Speed=1m/s

Time=3min=3×60 =180sec=t3

D=s×t

=180*1=180m=d3

Therefore,

Avg. Speed =total distance / total time

=d1+d2+d3/ t1+t2+t3

=720+1200+180/360+300+180

=2100/840

=2.5m/sec

*****avg.speed=2.5m/sec*******
