Given:

For a mass of 2kg, the velocity time graph is given.

To find:

Force experienced in OA , AB and BC parts ?

Calculation:

  • In order to calculate force, first we need to calculate the acceleration experienced by the particle in those parts of the graph.

  • Acceleration can be calculated by the slope of velocity-time graph.

In OA :

 \sf \therefore \: force = mass \times acceleration

 \sf \implies \: force = 2 \times  \dfrac{\Delta v}{\Delta t}

 \sf \implies \: force = 2 \times  \dfrac{20 - 0}{5 - 0}

 \sf \implies \: force = 8 \: newton

In AB:

 \sf \therefore \: force = mass \times acceleration

 \sf \implies \: force = 2 \times  \dfrac{\Delta v}{\Delta t}

 \sf \implies \: force = 2 \times  \dfrac{20 - 20}{40 - 5}

 \sf \implies \: force = 0 \: newton

In BC:

 \sf \therefore \: force = mass \times acceleration

 \sf \implies \: force = 2 \times  \dfrac{\Delta v}{\Delta t}

 \sf \implies \: force = 2 \times  \dfrac{0 - 20 }{45 - 40}

 \sf \implies \: force =  - 8 \: newton

Hope it helps.

Force= mass x acceleration

In OA

a= (20-0)/(5-0) = 4m/s²

Force= 2 x 4 = 8N

In AB

a= (20-20)/(40-5) =0m/s²

Therefore,

Force= 2 x 0 = 0 N

In BC

a= (0-20)/(45-40) = - 4m/s ²

Therefore,

Force= 2x (-4) = -8 N

Thank You....
