For a movie shoot, an elaborate setup is being crafted. There are nine different locations in a row. All the locations have 100 steps to reach them. The director has requested that the locations and the set be well lit. The electrician takes a whole bunch of bulbs and begins setting up the lights. As he climbs towards the first set, he places one bulb for each step, puts half of the bulbs he has on the first location. As he climbs down, he puts another bulb on each step. He repeats this at each location. By the time he is climbing down the ninth location, he has run out of bulbs. How many bulbs did the electrician carry when he set out for the task?

Solution:

156600

Explanation:

Whenever you face such type of questions, it is wise to begin from the last thing. Here in this question the last thing will be the 9th location. He climbed down 100 steps and thus you know, he had Rs. 100 before beginning climbing down. Thus, he must have offered to the god in that temple too (he offered half of the total amount). Also, he must have dropped Rs. 100 while climbing the steps of the ninth location.

So Final Answer is 156600
