→ As we know distance is path length while displacement is shortest distance between initial and final position. If particle is moving along a straight line without changing direction then distance and displacement both will increase with time. If particle is moving such that it take U-turn and coming towards the initial position then the path length still increases with time while separation between initial and final position decreases with time so distance is increasing and displacement is decreasing. So distance never decreases with time while displacement can.
