Given:

For ∆ABC with DE∥BC, such that AE/AC=3/8

TO find:

The length of AD

Solution:

We have given that DE∥BC in ∆ABC

which means ∆ABC ~ ∆ADE

as per the rule of the similarity of the triangle the ratio of the sides of the similar triangles always proportional to each other,

so we get

AE/AC = AD/AB = DE/BC

as we know that we have

AE/AC = 3/8

putting the value of AB we get

AE/AC = AD/4.8

3/8 = AD/4.8

AD = 3×0.6

AD = 1.8

Hence, The length of AD is 1.8 cm
