Solution:

On substituting x with 3, we get,

2x - 5y = 1

as

2(3) - 5y = 1

⇒ 6 - 5y = 1

⇒ -5y = 1 - 6

⇒ -5y = -5

⇒ 5y = 5     [multiply both side with (-1)]

⇒ y = 5/5 = 1

Answer:

y = 1
