For an object that is moving at a constant velocity, is it necessary for it to be moving in a straight line ?
please explain as well

If speed is constant, particle may still have an acceleration. e.g. in uniform circular motion, speed is constant but as the direction of motion changes continuously, velocity changes and there is acceleration
