for any integer a, (-1) *a= -a

because 1is multiplicative identity of any number. If we multiply any number with 1 we get the number itself.

And if a negative number (-) is multiplied by a positive number (+), we always get a positive number.

so, when any integer will be multiplied by -1 then we will get the integer itself with opposite sign.

Since, (-) * (+) = (-)

(-) * (-) = (+)

let the integer be x

(-1) *x= 5

x=-5

then the integer will be -5.

hope it will help you
