It is because the heat that is supplied is used up in changing the state of substance. The heat over comes the force of attraction and hence change the state of substance. So, the temperature remains constant.

No I think temp changes with the state becoz If you take a ice cube leave it as such the temp remains until it becomes water but after it becomes water its temp raises.In my view if it is wrong plzz
