The temperature of the substance remain constant even if we continue to heat. This is because, this heat is used in changing the state of the substance by overcoming the forces of attraction between the molecules. As the heat is supplied without showing any change in temperature we say that it is hidden in the contents of the beaker and is called latent heat.
