Blue baby syndrome is a disease which can cause blueness in babies and can affect oxygen transportation.

Source 》 Blue baby syndrome is caused by soil pollution and most common in infants .Excessive use of fertilizers and other nitrogen compounds increases the level of nitrates in soil when nitrates is taken by human through vegetables or fruits, it enters the gut.In human gut nitrates get converted into toxic nitrite. It combines with haemoglobin of blood to form methaemoglobin.

Symptoms and Harmful aspect It reduces the oxygen transport .Pregnant women transfer the toxic nitrites to their foetus. As a result the newly born baby appear bluish. So such a disease is called Blue baby syndrome .It may cause death of the baby .

OVERVIEW:-

  • the syndrome in which due to insufficient supply of oxygen leads to the bluish colour of skin,so named as blue baby syndrome.

CAUSES:-

  • methanoglobinemia :- a baby which have methanoglobinemia means high level of methanoglobin in blood...leads to blue baby syndrome. because methanoglobin is a pigment which prevent binding of oxygen into tissue .
  • Cyanotic heart disease:- it is a congenital heart disease which also affect the oxygen binding capacity of haemoglobin. due to this disease generally mixing of oxygenated blood and deoxygenated blood occurs, but in some cases reduce blood flow also occurs. ,so it must be leads to blue baby syndrome.

SYMPTOMS:-

  • color of skin become blue of purple blue.
  • baby seems to suffocating.
  • nail colour become deep blue.

HARMFUL ASPECT:-

  • baby feels suffocation, may turns to death.
  • major body organs may be failed due to insufficient amount of oxygen.
