Biuret reagent can be used to detect proteins Biuret is comprised of a solution which is aqueous of potassium sodium tartrate which is usually treated with cupirc and sulfate and sodium hydroxide. If the  the aqueous solution which is blue in colour changes to pinks its means that there is presence of peptide bonds which are proteins hence Biuret being the reagent for testing presence of proteins.
