In order to detect Sulphur in an organic compound, Sodium Nitroprusside is added to an extract of Sodium. Thereafter, a violet hue is released. This is because, the sodium fusion will convert the same into sodium sulphide; and these Sulphide ions can be easily identified with the help of Sodium Nitroprusside.

Therefore, the equation is given as follows :-

S^2^- + [Fe(CN)_5NO]^2^- →  [FE(CN)_5NOS]^4^-
