For diluting an acid,the acid should be poured carefully in water and not the reverse . Why ?

diluting an acid is an exothermic process and a lot of in energy is evolved or liberated. if we pour water into acid the volume of acid is insufficient to monitor the energy liberated and the situation might become disastrous while when we pour acid carefully into water volume of water monitors the energy liberatef
