The reactions 2N₂O₅ → 4NO₂ + O₂ and CO₂ + 4H₂ → CH₄ + 2H are not combustion reactions.

  • A combustion reaction is defined as a process that reacts with oxygen and produces flame and heat energy as a product.
  • So to determine wheater a reaction is a combustion reaction or not we need to find the presence of oxygen in the reactant.
  • In the first reaction, C₂H₆ reacts with O₂ therefore it is a combustion reaction.
  • In the second reaction, N₂O₅ does not react with oxygen similarly in the third reaction CO₂ not does react with oxygen, therefore, they both are not combustion reactions.
  • The other two reaction C and NO reacts with O₂ therefore the reactions are combustion reaction.
