Both Virashaivas and the saints of Maharashtra rejected social inequality and caste differences.

Their attitude was antagonistic to casteism especially towards the lower castes ,they believed in equality and resisted against discrimination against lower castes and were against inequality.

They were having a liberal attitude towards caste and rejected all forms of ritualism, they believed it was an obstruction for liberation.Their attitude was freedom should be respected above all and there should be no place for caste differences.

The attitude of the Virashaivas towards caste: They believed in the equality of all human beings. They were against Brahmanical ideas about caste and the treatment of women. They wished for a society where people of all backgrounds could live in harmony without any feelings of high and low, rich and poor.
