Nagpur. Maharashtra Forest Minister Sanjay Rathore said that products made from raw materials from forests should be vigorously promoted as organic and healthy products. A release said that the minister inaugurated the first retailing center of women's self-help group 'Vanamrit' in Nagpur on Thursday. The release said that through the agreement of village-level joint forest management committees, women savings groups (women's groups) are collecting free forest produce (NTFP) out of wood. Earlier most of the NTFPs were sold to middlemen which had low income and damaged the forest due to lack of continuous collection.
He said that as a long-term solution to these problems, local women were given an opportunity to earn livelihood through forest resources under this project. Rathore said the designated products should be delivered to malls, airports and the forest department can also approach big retail companies and make them available online . He said that since the raw material for these products has been taken from the forest, it should be sold as organic annd healthy
