Answer:

the diagonals of a paralellogram cut each other into equal halves.

so, y+8=20

     y=20-8

    y=12

now, x+y=18

y is already found

x+12=18

x=18-12

x=6

Answer:

1. x = 5 and y = 8

2. x = 6 and y = 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Q1) In parallelogram opposite sides are equal in length.

So, AD = BC

4x = 20

x = 5.

And AB = CD

3y - 2 = 22

3y = 22 + 2

3y = 24

y = 8

Q2) In parallelogram the diagonals bisect each other

So, MD = BM

20 = y + 8

y = 12

And AM = MC

18 = x + y

Now substitute value of y in this equation.

18 = x + 12

x = 6.

Hope this helps.
