Perspective projection refers to the three dimensional representation of an object on a plane as it is seen by the human eye from a certain point. It is a geometric method of getting images that are similar to the photographs taken by a camera.

The main difference between parallel projection and perspective projection is that in the latter case the point of sight is at a finite distance from the object. So the projectors from the object converge to the point of sight instead of being parallel to each other. It is also known as central projection or scenographic projection.
