Rain water harvesting is a simple technique to implement.

All you need to do is just find a small area to dig a trench of 4ft x 4ft to a depth of 8 to 9ft

Fill it up with a layer of 40mm stones upon which another layer of 20mm stones. These layers helps water to flow easily into the soil

Finally fill the last portion with coarse sand doing which helps water to get absorbed faster

Look for the places where water get stagnated naturally in the premises. Rain water usually gets collected on the terrace. Channelling the run-off has to be done to collect the water in the tank. Divert the water through pipes if it gets collected in the ground. Finally the setup is ready.
