Answer:

number of bananas, mangoes, apples are 80,1,19

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of bananas must be above 40 because if we buy only 40 banana then 60 fruits other than banana cannot be bought with Rs. 100. Mango is the lowest priced fruit after banana and it is priced at Rs 3 per mango and only 33 mango can be bought using remaining money.

Also the number of Bananas cannot be above 80 because the amount spent should be integer so bananas can be bought in multiples of 40 only and if we spend Rs. 3 on bananas then the number of fruits will go above 100 which is not allowed.

So the number of bananas to be bought = 80

Fruits remaining to be bought = 100–80 = 20

Amount remaining to be spent = 100–2 = 98

Now suppose that the number of Mango is x and the number of Apple is y.

As per above information, number of fruits is fixed at 20. So…

x+y = 20 ——— equation (1)

Multiply both the sides with 3…

3x+3y = 60 ——— equation (2)

& the amount to be spent is fixed at 98. So…

3x+5y = 98 ——— equation (3)

Subtract equation (2) from equation (3)…

3x+5y-3x-3y = 98–60

2y = 38

y = 19

Number of apples = 19

Put this value of y in equation (1)…

x+y = 20

x+19 = 20

x = 1

Number of mango = 1

So total number of fruits = 80+1+19 = 100

Lets check this answer if total amount fits the budget of 100.

Cost of 80 bananas = 80*1/40 = 2

Cost of 1 mango = 1*3 = 3

Cost of 19 apples = 19*5 = 95

So total cost = 2+3+95 = 100

Hence, answer is correct
