Women in our society are still the victims of the century-old patriarchy which is based on the subordination and domination of one over the other and the result of this is various kinds of gender-related violence and other gender-related discrimination.
EXPLANATION:
- We have been living in a society that was ruled by patriarchal values for centuries and this system was based on subordination and domination of one over the other.
- In patriarchy it was dominance of men over the women and women were thought to be their subordinates, the second class citizens. It was due to this mindset that resulted in various gender-related social evils like sati system, widow system, purdah system to name a few and also to another gender-related discrimination where women are not given equal property rights, etc.
- But, due to cultural awakening and educational awareness the situations are changing and now women are more aware of their rights and now when they are demanding their rights this had led to the concern among the conservatives and those who support patriarchy and them are simply not ready for such a big change in the social order and hence they are failing to recognize that women are not their subordinates but equal.
- But, the wave of change has started and it is time for them to change their mindset because women in the world deserve as much as every other being in the world.
