Mean of x no.s = 36

Their sum = 36*x = 36x

(i) When each no. is decreased by 10,

New sum = 36x - 10x = 26x

New mean = 26x/x = 26

(ii) When each no. is divided by 9,

New sum = 36x/9 = 4x

New mean = 4x/x = 4
