Given :  70 m long pipeline, 3 m and 5 m long pipes are used

price for shorter pipe is $10 per piece and for the other one $20 per

piece

To Find :   price of the most profitable usage of pipes

Solution:

Let say x pipes of shorter and y pipe of other one

3x  + 5y  = 70

Cost = 10 x  + 20y   = 10 (x   +  2y )

3x  +  5y  = 70

y             x            cost 10 (x   +  2y )  in $

14           0             280

11            5            270

8             10            260

5             15           250

2            20           240

20 shorter pipes and 2 other pipes are  most profitable usage

of pipes
