 \underline { \pink { Degree \:of\:the\: polynomial : }}

The degree of a polynomial is the largest degree of its variable term

 Given \: expression : 4x^{3}y -2xy + 5

i) Degree \:of \:the \: first \:term \\= sum \:of \:the \: exponents \:of \:the \: variables \\= 3 + 1 \\= 4

 ii)Degree \:of \:the \: second  \:term\\ = 1 + 1 \\= 2

 iii)Degree \:of \:the \: third\:term = 0

 \therefore\red{ Degree \:of \:the \: polynomial }\green {= 4}

 Number \:terms \: in \:the \: expression = 3

 \therefore \blue { It \:is \: a \:cubic \: polynomial.}
