GIVEN :

AP => -5,-1,3,7

TO FIND :

  • First term (a)
  • Common difference (d)

FORMULA USED :

d = b - a

where :-

  • d = common difference of AP
  • b = second term of AP
  • a = first term of AP

SOLUTION :

In the given A.P => -5,-1,3,7

First term = -5

Second term = -1

we will find common difference by using the formula :-

⟹d = b - a

Now put , b = -1 and a = -5

⟹d =  - 1- ( - 5)

⟹d =  - 1 +  5

⟹d =  5 - 1

⟹d =  4

ANSWER :

First term = -5

Common difference = 4
