for the circuit shown in the following diagram. find the value of current through 1) 6 ohm resisstor 2) potential difference across 12 ohm ressistor​

In the phase AB, the two given resistances are in series..

therefore, resultant resistance in AB = (6+3) ohm = 9 ohm

similarly, resultant resistance in the phase CD = (12+3) ohm = 15 ohm

after that, the two resultant resistances become parallel completing a circuit.

now, resultant resistance, R = (9×15)/24

or, R = 45/8 ohm

current flowing in the Circuit ,I = V/R

or, I = (4×8)/45 A

or, I = 32/45 A

current through AB, I' = 4/9 A

current through CD, I" = 4/15 A

Keeping the formula V = I×R ; we may proceed further-

(1)- current through 6 ohm resistance is 4/9 A = 0.44 A

(2)- current through CD, I" = 4/15 A

resistance, R" = 12 ohm

potential difference across 12 ohm resistance, V" = (4×12)/15 = 16/5 V
