For the formation of p-type semiconductor silicon should be doped with group 15 element like P or As, dopant atom forms 4 covalent bond like a Si or He atom but the 5th electron not use in bonding , become delocalised and contribute it's share towards electrical conduction. Thus Si or Germanium doped with P or As is called n-type semiconductor .
