 \large \: x + 2y = 10 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: - - (1) \\ \large{}x = -2

Here, Putting the known value in equation 1,

 \huge{}x + 2y = 10 \\ \huge{} ( - 2) + 2y = 10 \\ \huge{} - 2 + 2y = 10 \\ \huge{}2y - 2 = 10 \\ \huge{}2y = 10 + 2 \\ \huge{}2y = 8 \\ \\ \huge{}y = \frac{8}{2} \\ \\ \huge{}y = 4
