  • He is a famous personality in the annals of Marwar. He has credited the honor of preserving single-handedly the rule of the Rathore dynasty over Marvar(Jodhpur) after the death of Maharaja Jaswant Singh in the 17th century.
  • After the death of Maharaja Jaswant sigh his first male child was born, Ajit Singh. Veer Gurudas played the crucial role of saving the queen and his son after the death of the Maharaja.
  • After the death of Maharaja Jaswant Singh, 20 years passed and Marwar was still in the direct rule of the Mughal governor. During this Veer, Durgadas carried a relentless struggle against the Mughal power.
  • Veer Durgadas took all the advantage of the conflicts after the death of Aurangzeb in 1707, to regain (Marwar) Jodhpur and eventually remove the Mughal force. Ajit Singh was declared Maharaja of (Marwar)Jodhpur. After all, the new king rebuilt all the temples again which was destroyed by the Mughals
