For the reaction NH4HS(s) - NH3(g) + H2S(g) if Kp = 9 atm2 then the equilibrium pressure of gaseous mixture will be

solution : for the reaction ,

NH4HS(s) → NH3(g) + H2S(g)

at equilibrium, 0 α α

so, equilibrium constant, Kp = P(H2S) × P(NH3)

⇒ 9 atm² = α × α

⇒ 9 = α²

⇒α = 3atm

hence, equilibrium pressure of the gaseous mixture = α + α = 2α = 2 × 3atm = 6atm
