For the reaction X + Y ⎯→ Products, it is observed that
(i) On doubling the initial concentrations of both X and Y, there is a change by a factor of 16 in the rate of the reaction.
(ii) On doubling the initial concentration of Y only, the rate of reaction becomes eight times. The rate of this reaction is given by
