Answer

Therefore the velocity of light be maximum in medium c

Explanation

For the same angle of incidence in media a,b and c, the angles of refraction are 20 0 , 30 0 and 40 0 respectively.

refractive index of a, >n_{a} = sin i/sinr = sin1/sin20

refractive index of b , n_{b} = sin i/sinr = sin1/sin30

refractive index of c, n_{c} = sin i/sinr = sin1/sin40

we get, n_{a} >n_{b}>n_{c} (since sin 20 < sin30<sin40)

In comparing these media, the

one with the larger refractive index is optically denser medium than the other

The speed of light is higher in a rarer medium than a denser medium.

Here medium a is denser than b and medium b denser than medium c

Therefore the velocity of light be maximum in medium c

From Snell’s law

n = sin i /sin r = c/v

Since c and sin i are constant therefore sin r is directly proportional to v

Therefore velocity of light is maximum in medium C.
