The velocity of light will be minimum in medium N

Explanation:

Given:

For the same angle of incidence in media L, M and N, the angle of refraction are 45°,35° and 15° respectively

To find out:

In which medium will the velocity of light be minimum

Solution:

If the refractive index of any particular medium w.r.t. air is n then

By Snell's law

n=\frac{\sin i}{\sin r}

Where i is the angle of incidence and r is the angle of refraction

If the speed of light in the medium is v and speed of light in vacuum is c then

n=\frac{c}{v}

\implies \frac{c}{v}=\frac{\sin i}{\sin r}

\implies v=\frac{c\sin r}{\sin i}

\implies v\propto \sin r    (Since angle of incidence is constant)

Thus, the velocity will be more in a medium whose angle of refraction is more

Therefore, medium L will have maximum velocity while medium N will have minimum velocity

Hope this answer is helpful.
