For the Sports Day, one square boundary of side 6.5m and one rectangular boundary
of 8m by 4m were made on the ground. Then they were outlined with chalk markings. If the
cost of chalk marking is Rs. 5 per meter, how much will be the cost of marking the
boundaries?

Solution :-

Measurements of the square boundary -

Side = 6.5 m

Perimeter = 4 x side

                = 4 x 6.5 m

                = 26 m

Measurements of the rectangle boundary -

Length = 8 m

Breadth = 4 m

Perimeter = 2(Length + Breadth)

                = 2(8 m + 4 m)

                = 2(12 m)

                = 24 m

Cost of chalk marking = Rs. 5 / meter

Cost of chalk marking the square boundary

= Perimeter of the square boundary x Cost of chalk marking

= 26 m x Rs. 5 / meter

= Rs. 130

Cost of chalk marking the rectangle boundary

= Perimeter of the rectangle boundary x Cost of chalk marking

= 24 m x Rs. 5 / meter

= Rs. 120

Total cost of chalk marking the boundaries

= Cost of chalk marking(the square boundary + the rectangle boundary)

= Rs. 130 + Rs. 120

= Rs. 250

Answer :-

The cost of marking the  boundaries = Rs. 250

More To Know :-

\star Diagonal of square = √2 x side

\star Diagonal of rectangle = \sqrt{(Length)^{2} +(Breadth)^{2}}

\star Area of square= (side)²

\star Area of rectangle = Length x Breadth

\star Circumference of a circle = π x diameter

                        OR

 Circumference of a circle = 2 x π x radius

\star Area of a circle = π x (radius)²
