For the system shown below, the value of Q for which resultant force on q is zero is :

F1 = K×q×Q/a^2

F2 = K×q×Q/a^2

F1 = F2 =F

Resultant, Fr will be

Fr = √2F

√2K×q×Q/a^2

F3 = K×q×q/(√2a)^2

We know that,

F3 + Fr = 0

Fr = -F3

√2×K×q×Q/a^2 = -K×q×q/2a^2

Q = -q/2√2
