For the wave described in Exercise 15.8, plot the displacement (y) versus (t) graphs for x = 0, 2 and 4 cm. What are the shapes of these graphs? In which aspects does the oscillatory motion in travelling wave differ from one point to another: amplitude, frequency or phase?

Answer:

\color{tan}{hello}

Y = 3sin( 36t + 0.018x + π/4)

For x = 0 , equation reduce to

Y = 3sin( 36t + π/4)

w = 2π/T = 36

T = π/18

Now,

for the values of x = 2 and 4 , value of y at t = 0 will be more than x = 0 . they will lead in order x = 4 , x = 2 and x = 0 .

All will be sinusoidal in nature .

They have constant amplitude and frequency . but they differ in intial phase.
