Given:

3 moles of monoatomic gas.

To find:

Value of Cp/Cv ?

Calculation:

  • Irrespective of the number of moles of an ideal gas, the value of Cp/Cv will always remain same for that type of gas.

For monoatomic gas:

C_{V}=  \dfrac{3R}{2} \: and \: C_{P} =  \dfrac{5R}{2}

So, the required value will be :

 \therefore \:  \dfrac{C_{P}}{C_{V}}  =  \dfrac{ \dfrac{5}{2} }{ \dfrac{3}{2} }

 \implies\:  \dfrac{C_{P}}{C_{V}}  =  \dfrac{ 5 }{ 3 }

 \implies\:  \dfrac{C_{P}}{C_{V}}  =  1.67

So, value of Cp/Cv is 1.67
